1. In vv. 1-3, what do we learn about God's judgment? How should this inform our own view of judgment?
2. What is the intention of God's kindness (v. 4)?
3. From v. 8, what will be the result of a self-seeking life?
4. In v. 13, is hearing the law enough? Explain.
5. God's covenant people in the Old Testament (Israel) had received special instruction from God, given through prophets and other leaders. The possession of this law (though sacred), is not all that God was after - instead, he wanted it followed. In other words - obedience. Therefore, explain Paul's caution against hypocrisy in vv. 17-24.
6. The final two verses (vv. 28-29) examine the heart (inward) as opposed to outward appearance and religious ritual. And this is the work of the Holy Spirit within a person. In a few sentences, write (or discuss) the work the Holy Spirit has done in your life - especially your heart.
